An application for farmers that provides crop data in an aerial survey
Adapting aerial photography methods and high-resolution and quality surveys enable the monitoring of diseases and pests aiding in fertilization and irrigation processes.

Background & Strategy Kickoff
What does the company do?
Reshef Aviation offers a variety of aviation services
One of them is aerial photography for agriculture, the company provides aerial photography for crops, accurate data collection, and interpretation of surveys for the farmer to help improve crop yield and reduce costs.

Challenges in drone photography
-
Low shooting creates many images for a large area.
-
Longer image editing and processing time.
-
Drone battery time is short and charging time is long.
-
Combining many images to create a single image may lead to inaccurate results.

Challenges in the QField App
-
A cumbersome transition in transferring the materials.
-
Inability to update changing data in real-time.
-
When using this application, the farmer has to download the files himself.
-
The app does not support iOS.

Frustrations and Pain Points

Out of these obstacles, the company moved to
photographing a manned plane and developing a smartphone application
that offers farmers a more efficient solution.

Our Users
Farmers: Individual farmers or large agribusinesses looking to
monitor crop health, assess field conditions, and optimize farming practices through aerial imagery.
Agronomist: Agricultural consultants or advisors who assist farmers in making informed decisions about crop management, pest control, and irrigation strategies using aerial data.
What Do I Wont to Achieve?
Recognizing these obstacles, my goal is to design an easy application for the farmer to use that will help him get the data on the crop without the need to download materials and with data that will be updated.
Research
Client Challenges Explored
In my discussions with farmers, I gained a deeper understanding of the challenges they face in their plantations.
-
The existing methods are samples in fixed areas and do not reflect 100% of the area.
-
Inspection time can also be long depending on the size of the field or plantation.
-
Crop growth losses and inaccurate profit forecasts.
-
When the size of the plantation/field is very large, some tests are more difficult to perform.

User Flow
Things to consider
-
At the end of each interpretation of all surveys, a summary will appear - an agronomist's report.
-
Each farmer will have his surveys for his type of crop.
-
Cotton has a special survey that shows when is the best time to weed.
-
A farmer can own both plantations and crops.

Login Screen
The farmer orders from the company the surveys he wants for the crop.
The company enters the farmer's details and crop type in the internal system and sends him a password to allow the farmer to access their personal area.

Various surveys

Previous flight survey data
Selecting a survey shows a map of the crop type and its interpretation, with three top icons for quick switching between information views, enabling efficient navigation for the grower.

Map Data
These screens display different types of surveys that the grower can generate in order to collect data, interact, and receive useful and detailed information for the entire orchard and each individual plot.

Survey Orders
The customer will be able to track the status of their survey orders through the order color, which indicates the current status on the order page, they will have direct access to any completed orders.

Tree Condition Survey
Tree condition data in the orchard is obtained through a tree mapping survey, enabling the assessment of tree health and tracking changes over time between different snapshots. This information provides valuable insights for optimizing treatment methods and orchard maintenance according to evolving needs.
Navigation
The app enables navigation through plantation or field crops while displaying survey data, allowing users to identify areas requiring treatment and navigate directly to them.

This button centers the map on your current location, even if you've moved it to view other data.

Main Page
Targeted filtering: I created filters to help growers quickly access surveys based on orchard type or field crops, along with the ability to search by survey name.
Icons and color: (gray for not started, yellow for progress, green for completed) provide information at a glance, while visual icons improve usability.
This approach optimizes navigation and helps users find the desired survey efficiently.
